02/12/2013—And the Kelley Blue Book awards go to... Lexus, naturally.
It’s awards season, so it’s fitting that Lexus pulled in some top honors last week, specifically the Luxury Brand category of Kelley Blue Book’s 2013 5-Year Cost to Own Awards.
If you’ve owned a car in you life, chances are you know Kelley Blue Book—it’s basically the driving world’s go-to resource for gauging vehicle value.
Each year, Kelley Blue Book calls out brands and models with the best five-year cost-to-own value, which is a snapshot of a car’s value over time by adding out-of-pocket expenses (like fuel) to the car’s natural depreciation.
Low numbers in both areas add up to a superior cost-to-own number—or excellent value over time—and this is where Kelley Blue Book gives Lexus top marks overall in the luxury arena. The CT 200h, ES, and IS models were cited as key contributors, and Kelley Blue Book specifically called out the 2013 GS 350 for specific-model honors.
